Sign up at school May 15 for elementary summer enrichment

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 13, 2019) -- The City School District of Albany is offering a full-day elementary summer enrichment program this year that will focus on your child’s literacy and math abilities in the morning, and arts, drama, physical education, science and technology in the afternoon.

This Wednesday, May 15, staff will be available after the school day at each elementary school to help families fill out applications for the summer enrichment program. The summer program is open to students currently in kindergarten through fifth grade. You can check with your child's teacher, or the application support team at your school May 15, to see if the program is a good fit for your child.

The summer enrichment program will be at four locations this year:

  • Arbor Hill Elementary School

  • Giffen Memorial Elementary School

  • Pine Hills Elementary School

  • Sheridan Preparatory Academy.

The program will begin Monday, July 8 and continue through Friday, Aug. 9. Summer enrichment will operate daily from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack will be served, and transportation will be available to each of the four program sites.

This is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop their background knowledge and grow academically.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves approximately 9,300 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
