Falcons celebrate Homecoming 2017

ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2017) – Homecoming 2017 dawned on an unusually balmy Sept. 23, with temperatures in the mid-80s by the time the Albany Falcons took the field against the Colonie Raiders.

The day's events began with the unveiling of the City School District of Albany Wall of Fame. The wall contains names of the 79 members of the Hall of Fame, including the eight that were inducted on Friday night. Learn about the 2017 Hall of Fame class here.

Hall of Famers joined students, sports teams, staff and community members for the annual Homecoming Parade throughout the neighborhood. The Junior ROTC and Albany Marching Falcons led the parade, which wound through the streets around the school and ended up at Albany High’s new turf field.

Kickoff for the Homecoming football game was at 1:30 p.m. Halftime activities included introducing the newest Hall of Fame inductees and performances by the Albany Marching Falcons and Albany High’s varsity cheerleaders.

In the end, the Garnet Raiders defeated the Falcons 41-0.

Check out a Facebook photo album from Homecoming 2017 here. (You don't need a Facebook account to view the pictures. A window may display the text, "To see more from Albany City Schools on Facebook, log in or create an account," but you can dismiss it by clicking “not now.”)

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and prepare all students for college and career, citizenship and life, in partnership with our diverse community. The district serves nearly 9,700 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
